2023 Audi Q5 vs. 2023 Lexus NX : The NX Can’t Catch UpAug 4th, 2022
The Audi Q5 has so much to offer. It is a top-selling vehicle in Canada thanks to its unparalleled technical abilities, German-engineered powertrains and unique style. The Audi Q5 lets buyers choose between gas, hybrid and high-performance powertrains, all at a very competitive price.
Here, we compare the 2023 Audi Q5 with the 2023 Lexus NX.
A better powertrain lineup for the 2023 Audi Q5
The Q5 lineup starts with the 45 TFSI, which uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit that deploys 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This is plenty of power to zip around town or tackle the highway on a road trip. Next, the 55 TFSI e hybrid powertrain takes efficiency and performance to new levels with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit mated to an electric motor. This one delivers an unprecedented 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.
For a more dynamic drive, the SQ5 is powered by a powerful turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine. It deploys 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque and is built around calibrated chassis dynamics that make this special Q5 a competition vehicle on the road.
The Lexus NX lineup starts with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine that delivers 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, which is much less than the Q5’s base engine. The second all-gas option on the NX 350 is a 275 horsepower 2.4 L Turbo, which is less power than the Q5’s 55 TFSI e and SQ5 engines.
The 55 TFSI e engine and the SQ5 powertrains also outrank both NX hybrid powertrains in terms of performance, and they are paired with sportier automatic transmissions instead of a boring continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Finally, the Lexus AWD system can’t rival the world-renowned Quattro system from Audi, which has been designed to provide optimal traction during Canada’s harsh winter conditions.
The 2023 Audi Q5 is roomier, and much more refined
The 2023 Audi Q5 provides a much better driving environment for its occupants thanks to a clever balance of sportiness and refinement. It also offers more cargo volume than the NX, with 725 litres compared to 642 litres behind the rear seating area.
